Mental Health Day

I took a mental health day yesterday. My weeks have been so full of work and other appointments that my brain just said ENOUGH. Sit down, log off and tune out. So I did. Thursday was quiet and peaceful. I spent the morning and afternoon just lounging in my apt with Kayla, getting some things done around the house I have been putting off for weeks. My Old Navy order was delivered by my UPS man, who I think has a crush on me, or more likely he calls everyone mommy.

Then around 5:30pm Jake and Chan came over after their catering gig. They brought bottles of wine and chocolate covered strawberries, I made a chicken quesadilla and we caught up on what’s been going on in our lives.

Then it was beauty time. Chan cut our hair, me first then Jake, there was so much hair on the floor we could have made another dog. Jake and I are now short and sassy for summer, thank you Mr. Chan!!! I feel like such a rock star to get home delivery styling.

Then it was off to dinner, we met up with Steve Peterson, a lovely friend of Jake’s and Chan’s who runs Main State Theatre, at the Burger Joint at the Parker Meridian. Kids if you haven’t gone do!! It’s the best burger in the city with French fries and a pitcher of Sam Adam’s I could just die happy. It’s a small little hole in the wall (literally) if you didn’t know it was there you’d miss it. Seating can be worrisome, but never fear by the time your melt in your mouth burger is done, previously seated diners are on their way out the door. So hang in there be vigilant and stealthy, it’s worth it.

I left sated and restored to what resembled a human. My walk home to the magic trees house was full of crisp air and a lilt of hope.

I’m ready for Friday, bring on the cube!!

The Bachelorette Party

Saturday night we took bride #2 Kristin Price out for her bachelorette party. Ohhhh so much happened…

Let’s start at the beginning, a very good place to start. We went to dinner at a little tapas place called CafĂ© Noir and then to a burlesque show called, “This is Burlesque,” at Corio, check out the website it’s fun. Murray Hill hosts and the girls were AWESOME! A polished and professional show that was like 3 hours w/ an intermission.

There were 3 bachelorette parties there (funny how straight girls wanna go see boobies) seriously there were maybe 5 guys there so fascinating to the only lesbian in the bunch. Kristin had soooo much fun. Karl, our gay in tow, made her a Spanish Mantilla with porn on it. It was beautiful and gross all at the same time. Put all the veils to lame shame. Kristin drank Maker’s Mark neat all night and during one rather racy performance turned to me and said, “Brandy I think I’m gay.” One of the priceless quotes uttered through out the night. Another being, “I just can’t get my equipment to work,” again said by Miss Price.

The piece de resistance was when Murray pulled all the brides to be up on stage for a Britney Spears dance off. Kristin went crazy!!! I was like WHO is that??? For all her gyrating she won a Bud Light! Which I drank!!! Then we all chipped in and bought her pasties. Red with tassels. I am so proud of her that she has finally removed the stick from her ass. (Her words not mine). After the show we went to O’Neil’s for one more splash and then headed home around 1ish….nobody got too drunk or too naked, it was a perfect night for the ladies.
