The winding road....

What a long strange trip it has been, but I can tell you all there is NOTHING better than seeing a dear friend blossom into the performer you knew them to be all along. Here are some amazing words about my sister from another mister, Laura Beth Wells, from her co-star Patrick Page (aka The Green Goblin) via Playbill.com:

Tom Nondorf:
I enjoy the moments of humanity that you bring to Norman, like when you're doing a little waltz with Laura Beth Wells. You both seem kind of lost in each other. If there's any moment that we can look back at and feel the pain that Norman later feels, that's it.

Patrick Page:
Oh, absolutely. That's a real key moment. That's a moment that's gone through all kinds of evolutions as we've done the show that we've really wanted to hold onto. In a way, what I was talking about with a musical, you've got very little time to communicate an enormous amount. So, having them there together looking into each other's eyes hopefully tells the audience a lot about what they mean to each other. That's exactly the kind of thing that I love doing. I love working with Laura Beth. It's so funny, she's been in the business for a long time, and she's this extraordinary actress and singer. This is her first Broadway show. When she first came to the city, she was ushering in The Lion King at the New Amsterdam Theatre. She's really come all that way, and I love being with someone who not only is so gifted and so giving on stage, but who really understands how blessed we are to be doing this for a living.

Catch her on The Late Show with David Letterman on March 1st shaking that deserving Broadway jelly with her Spidey-Mates!!

Birth Month!

As my birth month is quickly coming to an end, lord how it just flies by, I would like to address the idea of unlucky 13.

Born on the 13th of February I have never found the numeral to be cursed or scary. In fact a ton of amazing things have happened on that day.

Rent first opened Feb. 13, 1996, at New York Theatre Workshop.

Israel bought the Dead Sea Scrolls on 13th February, 1955 from the Syrians for $250,000. What a deal!

A four-passenger Thunderbird was made by the Ford Company 13th February, 1958; they don't make cars like that anymore.

Stockard Channing was born 13-Feb-1944, I have had dreams she plays my mom in a play someday.

Tennessee Ernie Ford the Country Musician, 13-Feb-1919, Ernie we are all one day older and deeper in debt.

David Naughton 13-Feb-1951 Actor, An American Werewolf in London, the original hottie werewolf....arrroooo!

Henry Rollins crazy amazing talker & musician 13-Feb-1961, aka my brother from another mother!!

Mena Suvari 13-Feb-1979 wow NOT so much older than her than I thought!!

Robbie Williams 13-Feb-1974 well we had to get a little more glitter on the team!

Grant Wood Painter 13-Feb-1892 famous for American Gothic

Chuck Yeager Aviator 13-Feb-1923 Test pilot, first to break speed of sound...speedy!

Not to say that there weren't awful things that happened on the 13th but for me I have always found luck in being the odd one out. Somehow it's infamy makes me feel special, as if that star on that day singles out my defiance of what the world feels is strange or unusual. People are wary of it and I kinda like it. So beware the tribe of the "Tredici" is out there walking under ladders and crossing your path.

I Hate Valentine's Day

Dear Nia Vardalos & John Corbett,

Please stop making movies together. You are NOT the Tracy & Hepburn of new Hollywood. My Big Fat Greek Wedding while one of my favorite movies was a fluke, a unicorn that bolted forth out of the cinematic dust bowl that was the summer of 2002.

Nia, don't get me wrong I am rooting for you sweetheart, I have seen every movie you've made since that $200 million dollar summer. I even bought the sound track to Connie & Carla because I am a big fat gay man. And while some of the principles you touch on in "I Hate Valentine's Day" are right on the money, in this single girl's opinion, the rest is just couched in cliché after cliché.

I think the magic of My Big Fat Greek Wedding is while the story is a timeless one you managed to re-invent the packaging; made it fresh with your own perspective on heritage that had never really been seen on film since "Zorba the Greek".

Girl I like you, because you remind me of me, but I have noticed you've "thinned" out a bit since 2002, husband included! Don't think I don't see you working him into your projects, love it by the by!! I believe in the trickle down theory that once you "make it" you put your talented friends that stood by you through the lean years in where you can so thank you for keeping the dream alive. I mean be healthy but I miss the old you with the soft edges, you look too tailored now. Be careful of the dreaded "cat eye" syndrome that lurks in the puffy, pink back rooms of LA's finest filler & injection salons!!

I don't know, I feel like everything you've done has been processed through the Hollywood machine trying to find the 2002 magic which of course is a vortex of suck that reverses all the whimsy & different right out of a picture. My suggestion, get the back to your roots and get the suits out of your hair. And find another leading man, I mean I adore John, have since "Northern Exposure", but you need a new palette to play off, the jelly she is tired of you two.

ps-the two things I did love about the picture, you gave Rachel Dratch a job and you made Zoe Kazan look fat. Thank you!
