Thoughtful Pennies

I found a penny made in the year of her birth. Then put it in a purse I bought for her as a present with the following on a tiny card.

This little penny came into the world when you did.
It has traveled through pockets and purses.
Paid for countless candies and kept people from breaking another dollar.
The tooth fairy has left it as payment for the tooth that finally fell out.
Loafers have sported it to English class and to a Sadie Hawkins dance.
It has seen the passing of presidents and touched more hands than a politician.
And now it has found you, like I did,
no wonder they are lucky when you pick them up.
